1. Introduction
1.a. Significance (two paragraphs)- Completed
1.b. Literature Review (three paragraphs)
1.c. Research Question (one paragraph) -completed
• Please add whether your study is explanatory, exploratory, descriptive, or evaluative. – I need to add that the study is explanatory

2. Methods
2.a. Participants (two paragraphs)

Start by stating your theoretical population of interest and continue with your feasible study
population. Then, describe your sampling method. It could be either probability sampling
(simple random; systematic random; stratified; cluster), or non-probability sampling
(convenience; purposive; snowball). Be specific in your description. – I will use cluster .If you’re proposing a
probability sampling, describe your sampling frame as well. Then, state your ideal sampling
size; how many people you hope to enroll in your study.

Justify why your chosen sampling method is most appropriate for your population and how it
will help you answer your research question.

Use at least 1 citation from peer-reviewed journals or books.

2.b. Design (three-four paragraphs)

Describe the design and data collection approaches of your study in detail. There are
numerous possibilities so please be specific.

Your experimental research options are true experimental (pretest-posttest control group
[known as randomized control trial]; posttest-only control group), quasi-experimental
(pretest-posttest with nonequivalent groups; time series), or pre-experimental (one group
pretest-posttest; static group comparison). Add symbols (X, O, R) to illustrate your design.

o Operationalize your independent and dependent variables. First, explain how you
plan to measure your dependent variable (O). Then, describe your intervention,
which is your independent variable (X).
• Your survey research options are cross-sectional, longitudinal, or retrospective design. Be
specific about the mode of administration you think is best for your study: self-administered
questionnaire via mail or online; questionnaire that is administrated by the research staff via
phone or in-person.

o Operationalize your independent and dependent variables by describing your
standardized instruments. Then, include 3 sample questions from your questionnaire.
• Your qualitative research options are ethnography, phenomenology, narrative inquiry,
photovoice, or grounded theory. Be specific about your data collection approach that is best
for your study: individual interviews, focus groups, or observations.
o Explain whether you will use a structured interview guide, semi-structured, or open.
Then, include 3 sample questions from your interview guide.

Justify why your chosen design and data collection approaches are most appropriate for your
explanatory/ exploratory/ descriptive/ evaluative study and for your research question.

Use at least 2 citations from peer-reviewed journals or books.
3. Discussion
3.a. Strengths and limitations (one paragraph)

• Briefly discuss two strengths and two limitations of your study methodology. You may refer
to strengths or limitations in your sampling method, design, or data collection approach.
3.b. Ethics (one paragraph)
• Briefly discuss at least two ethical issues that you must consider when conducting your study
and explain how you plan to address them. You may refer to ethical issues concerning your
population, recruitment, sampling method, design, or data collection approach.
3.c. Concluding statement (one paragraph)
• Finish the Discussion section with a concluding statement about the importance of your
proposed study. You may refer to its implications for future social work research, social work
practice, or social/ public health policy.
Include a References page at the end of your paper.
